Meet Jefferson Health's Activities Director

In honor of National Activities Professional Week, we wanted to highlight our awesome Activities Director at Jefferson Healthcare Center! Thanks to Laura and her team of activity professionals, our residents get to engage in much more than just Bingo. Our activity programs are resident-centered, meeting individualized needs, keeping residents constantly engaged, and, most importantly, helping to improve their overall quality of life.
A native of the Keystone State, Laura was born and raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Starting in 5th grade, she took Saturday Art Classes at the Carnegie Museum and pre-college Art Classes at Carnegie Mellon University. Laura is a graduate of Bethel Park High School, then attended California State University in Long Beach, California, where she was a Drawing & Painting major. Laura received a degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, then worked as a designer and production artist for Carlisle’s Retailers in Ashtabula before coming to the Jefferson Healthcare Activity Department.

Some of Laura’s interests include arts & crafts, taking photos, reading science fiction (Lee Child & Sherlock Holmes is her favorite) and playing Trivia, especially about entertainment and old movies. Some residents have even called her the Trivia Queen! She also loves movies, especially the TCM variety, PBS, British Television, and music genres like Classic Rock and the Blues (some of you know that she's seen Peter Frampton eight times!) But above all she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Laura is a big animal lover and loves all kinds of animals. She’s a Cleveland Guardians fan and also a lifelong Steelers fan. Laura enjoys traveling to Florida in the winter, especially The Everglades and Key West, and Disneyland and Mackinac Island are her favorite destinations.
Laura and her team are always going above and beyond to ensure that our residents are well-taken care of and can participate in the activities, no matter what the circumstances they are in.
“I feel that I am in a very special profession. Hopefully, I can continue making a difference in the lives of our residents,” expressed Laura.
